Biography

Mary Ann Mangini has performed professionally throughout the Pittsburgh region, sharing the stage with such notable TV and Broadway stars such as Paige Davis, Brad Little, Terri Bibb, Yvette Lawrence, Leslie Alexander, Dana Mellor, James Mellon and John Shull.  Her professional, one-woman show, Mary Ann Mangini: Torch Songs, at the Strand Theater in Zelienople played to sell-out crowds for two nights in September 2010.  Throughout the spring and summer of 2011, Mary Ann judged and performed in Froggy 95’s Rocket to the Stars competition.  She has also swooned audiences as featured vocalist with the Grove City College Jazz Ensemble, the Dante De Thomas Dance Band, and the Richard Mansfield Tuesday Night Big Band.

Mary Ann’s musical theater appearances include New Castle Playhouse productions, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator,) Brigadoon (Fiona,) Fiddler on the Roof (Tzeitel,) and South Pacific (Nellie.)  She also played the roles of Marian Paroo and Maria Von Trapp in the Red Barn Theater’s Music Man and The Sound of Music, and Woman #1 in the Strand Theater’s I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.  Outside of the Pittsburgh region, Mary Ann has performed in several cabaret productions at the Youngstown Playhouse.

After earning her Bachelor’s degree in music education at Grove City College, Mary Ann pursued her passion for teaching choir, music, drama, and private vocal lessons at Shenango High School in New Castle.  She also taught high school choir and elementary music in the Riverview School District in Oakmont.

In April 2013, Mary Ann released her debut jazz album, Release Me, comprised of popular jazz standards and several original works.  She currently tours the Pittsburgh area with her jazz quintet and teaches voice/piano lessons at her home studio.  Mary Ann is also on staff at the Strand Theater as Children’s Music Director.
